Discover the magic of your journey!
There’s been a lot of talk around town about parking challenges, road traffic, health and wellbeing. What can help all three? Bicycles!
We’re working on creating a community-led platform advocating for bicycle usership and more people-friendly places including long-term eBike hire services for residents of Maleny. We want to help you envision a healthier and safer Maleny by offering affordable community access to eBikes while showing all that our picturesque town has to offer in the journey of a destination!
malenyBikes is made up of several elements that will allow us to keep moving smoothly towards a healthier and safer Maleny. We believe in the importance of people collaboration and are a not-for-profit initiative in the hopes of becoming a worker and customer owned cooperative as we get more of the community (you!) involved.
This means that our bike doesn’t work without a committee of workingBees and a community of fietserFriends who help reinforce our purpose and work toward our goals.
Our identity is part of malenyBikes’ inspiration, overarching vision and purpose of providing active transport for healthier people and safer streets while also considering the sustainability in what we do. The wheel icon represents our main goals as follows:
Encourage and promote the use of active and electric mobility to connect people and places nearby
Enhance and focus on the hiring and maintenance of bikes to increase their life-span and reduce consumer waste
Educate and engage the community on safer, more active and livable places to improve our local areas
Want to stay updated on our activities? Become one of our fietserFriends where you can meet other fietsers (bicycle riders) and friends who are also part of the malenyBikes community!
malenyBikes is currently at formation phase where we've got a small team of workingBees and we're in the process of hopefully getting some support from local organisations to start a pilot program in order to get you on a bike!
Keep your eyes peeled! If you’d like to get involved and help us get our community on some bikes- please flick us an email!
